The Diaspora Desk was established in 2019 under the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation. The aim of the Desk is to facilitate and coordinate Zambia’s engagement with the Zambian Diaspora for enhanced participation in National development.

The functions of the Desk include:

• Coordinate the Implementation of Government policies on Diaspora issues;
• Coordinate and facilitate interaction between various stakeholders and the Zambian Diaspora;
• Linking Diaspora and Government initiatives;
• Lobbying and Advocacy for increased participation of the Zambian Diaspora in national development;
• Coordination of Diaspora engagement in collaboration with the Zambian Missions Abroad; and
• Organising and Coordinating Diaspora Events.
